Traditional Castile is a great gentle cleansing soap suitable for all the family and all skin types.
A true traditional castile soap is made with only saponified olive oil; if it has any other oils, it isn't castile.
Please note:
Castile Soap is an acquired taste; traditionally a very hard bar that produces a low, dense lather which is not suitable for everyone but lots of lather does not mean cleansing! It has quite a high, naturally produced, glycerine content which some people find slimy.
Having said that it is one of my must have soaps, I use it when my skin is feeling particularly sensitive and dry. Also, because of the great natural cleansing properties, I use it on my laundry as a stain remover or grate a small amount into some hot water to dissolve and use on hand-wash only items.
We make this soap from scratch using 100% raw ingredients; we do not use commercially produced soap bases, paraben preservatives or artificial lathering agents such as SLS.
We use the traditional Cold Process Soap making method in wooden moulds, then cut each bar by hand and leave it to cure for a minimum of six weeks for a firmer longer-lasting soap.
Because we cut our soap by hand every bar is different and so you may not receive the exact bar shown in the photo. This also means each bar will vary slightly in weight.
One bar weighs approximately 110g (4oz).
