This glass cabochon was fused by me. It was cast in a mould and then the glass was heated up to around 780 degrees celsius in a small glass fusing kiln and then it was then brought to annealing temperature to make it strong. It was then fire polished in the kiln to create the smooth surface. This whole process takes over 17 hours to complete.
It is a beautiful deep red with gold mica enclosed and a subtle purple and red mica shimmer on the surface. It is approximately 5cm across. A beautiful piece of statement jewellery and one of a kind. Ideal as a present to a loved one.
This pendant is tied with a hand dyed pure silk ribbon (courtesy of Hearty Craft) and also has a spare black cord for more informal daily wear.
Frit casting is done by combining tiny pieces of glass, including clear, within a casting mould. This means that there may be variations of colour depth within the piece and this is normal.
You will be sent the pendant photographed.
Not suitable for children - this is made from real glass and needs to be treated respect - it may have sharp edges if broken. It is, however, made from thick annealed glass so is fairly robust for everyday use.
