One of my inspirational places is my favourite wool shop, McAree Brothers in Stirling. If ever I am feeling 'stuck' , a wander round this shop looking at all the shelves of wonderful colours and running my fingers over the fabulous textures of their amazing selection of yarns is sure to set ideas sparking.
It was whilst browsing in this shop that the design for this bag popped into my head.
I also love Harris tweed, so when one of the Hebridean weavers that I buy from produced a gorgeous yellow tweed I knew just how I would trim the bag! The proggy technique is traditionally used in making rugs, but I have been experimenting with it in smaller projects such as this handbag. It's a great way to have some luxurious tweed at a reasonable price. Hope you like it!

Full description
This is a pretty, orange, yellow and burnt orange handbag, handmade by me from 100% wool, knitted and then felted. It is trimmed with a lovely shade of yellow Harris tweed using a traditional proggy rug making technique. The Harris tweed strips are woven into a hessian base which is then sewn onto the felted wool bag. The bag is lined and the lining has a Harris tweed border to match the proggy trim.
