Blue Lace Agate is one of my favourite gemstones. It has a subtle appeal with fine irregular blue bands tracing across it like frost on a winter window. This stone only needed a simple setting to enhance its beauty.

Full description
This is a beautiful cabochon of semi-precious blue lace agate which I have set by hand using the rub-over method. The rest of the pendant is of fine silver, which shows as being paler and whiter looking than sterling. This pendant has not been cast, but forged by using a hammer to shape by hand different sizes of fine silver square wire around a metal rod. The shapes are then soldered together and polished to a high shine. The pendant is open at the back to allow the light to pass through and enhance the natural blue striped banding in the stone. I used a twisted piece of square fine silver wire to create the bail and the whole hangs from a 450 mm or 17 3/4" fine pendant chain. With its icy colours this little gem measures just 18 mm or 3/4" and is perfect for winter wear.
