This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
I've called this Colour Wheel, In the Red.
I first of all fused a 4cm dichroic glass nugget in my hotpot kiln, with lots of dichroic chips for sparkle.
The nugget is then set this inside a segmented circle cut from 16 different types of glass, lovely shades and textures and all bright red except for a little hint of amber.
The circle is framed for strength and neatness with twisted wire.
This is 13cms in diameter and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.
it is would make a wonderfully bright addition to any room.
It is totally individual and I am really pleased with it.
I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure they are unique.
I can never make another just the same as this, as my dichroic nuggets are unrepeatable.
The 5th photo shows this colour wheel design in 4 other seasonal colour schemes which are also for sale here in my Folksy shop in separate listings.
This is the first all red version of the colour wheel I've made. I hope you like it.
My fused glass dichroic nuggets, made in my microwave hotpot kiln, are great fun to make but the dichroic glass I use is very expensive. I guard it like gold dust. I love opening the kiln when the fusing is complete as I never know quite what I will have made.
