This glass cabochon was fused by me. The glass was heated up to around 800 degrees celsius in a small glass fusing kiln and then it was then brought to annealing temperature to make it strong. When cooled, the cabochon was shaped using a glass grinder and the edges were smoothed. It was then slumped on a mould to create the correct shape. This whole process takes over 17 hours to complete.
This cabochon has a forest rainbow dichroic shimmer, with clear greens, blues and purples, very difficult to photograph. This is on green aventurine glass, which complements it beautifully - the aventurine glass naturally has a delicate shimmer. It is fitted with a silver coloured metal barrette clip. It is approximately 10 cms long.
This listing is just for one barrette, the Will O' The Wisp barrette, not the other one in the main photo - that is just to illustrate the barrette.
Not suitable for small children - this is made from real glass and needs to be treated respect - it may have sharp edges if broken. It is, however, made from thick annealed glass so is fairly robust for everyday use.
