A leather journal, in duck egg leather and wine suede, bound by hand. Decorated with a painted golden feather.

The journal has a wrap cover of duck egg leather, with a double sided trim of soft, rich wine coloured suede on the flap.

On the flap is a painted gold feather, with wine coloured ink printed below, for added depth. The cover edges are also painted in gold.

Inside, the cover has a lining of marble design paper, in colours to match the cover, on a cream background.

The book has a hand stitched binding, in a cross-stitch style, of wine coloured linen thread.

The book contains crisp cream text paper, with a laid finish, in two sections - 48 pages (96 sides) in all.

The book measures approx 16cm x 11cm (6.5" x 4.5") and pages are slightly smaller.

The book will be wrapped in tissue, with a red cotton tape bow. It will be packaged carefully and posted by tracked and signed post, for your security.

I bought a piece of duck egg leather, on a recent visit to Harmatan Oakridge Ltd. It was the main inspiration for this journal. The soft, wine coloured suede seemed just the right thing to add richness and contrast on the wrap-over part of the cover.
I lined the leather with a piece of marble design paper that I bought just a few days ago. The feather worked out really well, as a final embellishment and I had some wine coloured French linen thread, which I used to bind the book, adding an extra bit of interest on the spine.

This would be a beautiful and unusual choice for a wedding guest book, perhaps for a smaller, or country-themed wedding - or one with a bird or feather as a theme.

It would also make a wonderful gift for a special person - someone who loves to write, record favourite poetry, make sketches, or just to have a lovely notebook on their desk.
