What does Upcycle mean to us?
Wikipedia defines upcycle as: “The process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value”.
MMM believes also beautiful and useful should be added to this definition.
Often, the pieces we use have marks or other signs of use. This does not detract from the resulting art work, rather enhances it’s beauty. Please be assured that each piece is robust and fit for purpose!
MMM uses recycled items either as a substrate (base) or tesserae. Often porcelain or other crockery material is used to decorate items such as plates, bowls and cups. Mirror, glass and window frames are also re-purposed - in fact often only the stained glass we use is “new”. Even the ceramic tiles sometimes used as a base are recycled from building sites.
In our process we are able to integrate your own mementos into the finished work which can make the piece even more precious for you.

This listing features a custom made mosaic house sign. This sample sign expresses the sentiment "home is where the heart is". I make these plaques to order and they have been designed for outdoor use on cement back board to ensure longevity of your purchase. I have used both traditional mosaic tiles and pique assiette in this sign but you can choose the style you wish. I am happy to help in your design consideration.
This sign measures 30cm x 10cm (12" x 4") and comes complete with a D ring attached for mounting. These signs call also be set into the wall and I am happy to give you written instructions on the best way to install.
We also offer other pieces in both Pique Assiette and traditional mosaics in a variety of colours and patterns. We can also include your crockery or other found items that are precious to you. Please contact us for further information.
