This beautiful amethyst pendant has been hand cast in silver from an antique victorian button that I have in my collection. The silver has been heavily antiqued before polishing in order to bring out the delicate vintage design. It measures 30 mm or 1 3/4" in length and is supplied with a 450 mm sterling silver trace chain.
It is supplied carefully packaged in its own gift box.

I collect antique and vintage buttons. Many of them are suitable for casting and this tiny one is one of my favourites. It once adorned the sleeves of a Victorian lady's dress-buttons like this were usually used for silk taffeta evening gowns with leg of mutton sleeves. The pendant serves are a reminder that buttons were once chosen as carefully as jewellery.
To the Victorians the viola, or heartsease also symbolized faithful love and was considered to be the birth flower for February, just as amethyst is also the birthstone for February. This imbues the pendant with three secret messages between the giver and the wearer.
