Item details

Swaledale is in North Yorkshire, a long narrow east-west dale with fields, dry stone and characteristic stone barns along the bottom where the River Swale runs. I took a photograph on a walk by the river and carved this view from it.

The carving is in figured / rippled sycamore, treated with Danish Oil. waxed and polished and backed with green adhesive felt. It comes with a display stand. It was completed May 2015. The wood is approx 10.25" in diameter and 2" deep. The carving is 1" deep at the top but reduces to texture at the bottom.

I love carving inspiring views, especially from photos taken on walks I do. The barns in Swaledale are very distinctive and I liked the way the path went through the grass and flowers towards it. I have also shown a picture of the original view.
