A large paperback book which gives clear and easy to follow instructions on all aspect of knitting from casting on your first stitch through to drafting patterns for clothing.
The book also contains a concise library of different stitches including textured and openwork stitches and gives information on the different types of yarn and fibres available.
I also have a dvd which came free with a magazine way back in the day and has nine easy to follow tutorials which I'll send along with this book for free. Sometimes it's easier to learn when you can watch someone first and then copy.
