Cushion cover William Morris "Kelmscott Tree" 50 x 50 cms.
William Morris famously said, “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
Hand sewn cushion cover made from a piece of Morris and Co. linen union and piped in a modern dark red heavy weight cotton. The design is based on the embroidered covers and hangings that Morris's wife originally made for their bedroom at Kelmscott Manor. The cover is lined in a matching linen and cotton mix fabric and all the seams have been double sewn and four stitched overlocked for strength. The cushion has a flap on the reverse for ease of opening and is embellished with five wooden buttons.
It measures approximately 20 inches / 50 cms. square.
Due to the large scale motifs in this design every cover will have a slightly different placement.
