I make art from found materials, and like to use materials, that due to changes in technology, are no longer in use.
When I heard that tax discs were going to stop being used, I wanted to incorporate them into my art. The reason for making them into cyclists is due to the fact that some motorists use the argument that "cyclists don't pay road tax" (which is in fact untrue) to argue that they should have priority on the road.
After carefully cutting a few tax discs to create cyclists, I realised that the red circle at the bottom of the tax disc would be perfect for creating a King of the Mountains jersey, so here he is.
I'm currently very fortunate that people know that I collect old tax discs, and every once in a while I receive an anonymous envelope, stuffed with old tax discs...its lovely to know that people are thinking of me.
