A Chapbook was originally a small, single-section hand bound book, which would contain poetry, stories or ballads. They were sold, from around 1500, by peddlars, known as "chapmen" - hence the name, "Chapbook". Nowadays, the name is also given to single-section notebooks or journals, with or without printing inside, and with up to 40 pages.
This leather Chapbook is blank inside - ready for your own writings and sketches. Create your own history, as part of a long tradition!
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
Full description
A chapbook style journal in deep red leather, with an enamelled Art Nouveau style cameo decoration on the cover and gold ribbon tie fastening. A beautiful present for a special friend, lovely for writing, drawing or note-keeping.
The cover is lined with paper depicting an Art Nouveau / Arts and Crafts, Turkish Isnik-inspired Tile design in dark blue, red and viridian green on a white background.
On the front cover is a gold-coloured metal embellishment, with an enamelled red lily.
The book fastens with fine golden ribbons, which tie at the front edge.
The book contains 40 pages (80 sides) of crisp, cream text paper with a laid finish and hand-cut edges. The paper is arranged as a "chapbook", which is a single section of paper, folded and hand stitched into the cover, with grey linen thread.
The book measures 19.5cm x 13cm / 7.75" x 5.25", with pages that are slightly smaller.
