I stylised Greater Knapweed after seeing it flowering on the limestone outcrops at Conistone Dib in Upper Wharfedale, Yorkshire Dales National Park. Limestone crags are pretty difficult places to live on, so to see these beautiful flowers in abundance on a summers walk was a highlight for me. This design presented me with new challenges, how to stylise something that is so delicate and detailed in some respects, growing way above your head and how to represent the sky without crowding out the subject.
