Full description
A gorgeous, floaty black chiffon shawl or scarf measuring approximately 162cm (60") x 72cm (28") has been embellished with large wool and silk poppies using a nuno felting technique.
Five large poppies in various stages of flowering have been nuno felted onto this black chiffon scarf using red, green and black merino wool. Red silk fibres have been added to the surface of the poppy petals to give a lustrous effect.
The nuno felting technique allows the woollen fibres to migrate through the chiffon to form a bond. Shrinkage of the wool during the felting process gives a ruffled effect on the chiffon around the flowers. I have tried to illustrate this in the final photo.
Although wearable as a scarf the width of the fabric and size of the poppies makes it ideal to wear as a shawl. It would look fabulous draped over a black evening dress.
A unique and striking scarf which would make a wonderful gift for any occasion, birthday, Christmas, anniversary, valentines, Mother's Day or just because...!
