A very thing bowl with a bulging bottom sits high on a set of five tapered legs, which are held in place by a ring with suitably placed holes. The bowl is made from monkeypuzzle, the legs are some indian hardwood salvaged from a crate and the ring is made from 10 year old plum.

Not your everyday dinner table center piece, but could make a striking difference to your next party, filled with sweets or a potpourri or flower petals. It certainly is different

This piece was initially designed as a competition entry (in the end I entered Second Balance, which won the competition and is also for sale here). I had played around with designs for shallow bowls on tall stands for a while, but most of these had highly elaborate requirements for the legs, and I didn't have time to execute these for the competition, so I had to come up with a different idea for the stand. Here's the result. As they say: Necessity is the master of invention.
