Full description

phoneticaly spoken 'shan AH her/hir' Gaelic for Grandfather or more litteraly 'Old Father'. He is a true Woodwose of ancient myth.

Plum finished in wax with pyrography on the eye detailing. He is 12" tall 4 3/4" in diameter the face is 8" tall (including the hair) and 4" wide.

This fellow was carved from an ornamental plum tree that was cut down years ago to make room in someone's garden. The wood is like iron and there is a large 'shake' split down the back as this piece has been air dried over many years. this type of splitting is common with logs and is part of the 'found wood' charm.

Please remember that wood placed outside will rot over time even with a good finish but something made from this plum will last a few lifetimes if looked after or kept indoors.

If you want him for the garden Place him in a Gazeebo or other covered area and wax him every year or so. Don't place the wood directly onto the soil, grass or anywhere where it will sit in water and he will watch over the garden for you for years to come.
