No longer a Bah Humbug Bee, this bee has dropped the Bah! I hand gild metal leaf onto glass sheets and then cut them into shape. The substrate is made of aluminium sheet that I hand cut into a bee shape and then file the edges. The back is painted with metal primer and gold paint suitable for aluminium and a brooch pin is attached. I made the bee's flowery thorax by making a polymer clay bead and cutting it in half, baking it and finally varnishing it.
A brooch pin is fixed to the back. The bee brooch's are all individual, each one unique due to the nature of the metal leaf, the polymer clay half bead, and the mosaic process. They are approximately 7cm long from wing to wing and about 6cm in length. Your humbug bee will be delivered to you in a little eco cotton drawstring bag.
There is also a humbug bee pendant available. If you want the bee without a brooch back please add a note to your purchase. Your bee will be posted FIRST CLASS delivery.
N.B. NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN! DO NOT WEAR WHILE PARTICIPATING IN SPORT OR EXERCISE OR ANYTHING THAT COULD CAUSE YOU TO FALL OVER! CONTAINS GLASS AND SMALL PARTS!
We had so many bees gathering around our raspberry flowers earlier this year, despite growing news that they dying out. I love them, they are good insects and we should do all we can to protect them
