'Edgy Ethnic Skirt' is a colourful, decorative skirt and is original and unique. It is fitted around the waist and hips with a flowing asymmetric pleated hemline. It has been created with many layers of fabric pieces and decorative lace trimmings from Istanbul.

The colours are Autumnal: browns, purple, gold and pink. Some fabrics are hand dyed. A number of different fabrics and trimmings have been used: silk, satin, lace, tapestry, velvet and cotton.

The whole skirt is intricately and decoratively stitched together and has been created from flatteringly shaped fragments of fabric and lace. There is a side zip fastening.

My garments are completely unique and take many hours to create. They are wearable works of art.

Although many of the fabrics have been edged, some fraying will occur over time adding to the dramatic nature and flowing effect of the garment.

Due to the wide range of fabrics in this garment (some hand dyed), this garment will require delicate hand washing or dry cleaning.

The skirt is a 'Hipster' style and sits below the waistline:

Hips - 96cm (37.5")

Length from top of waistband to hem - shortest point - 52cm (20.5")

I visit Turkey every year and love rummaging around the back street haberdashery stores. In 2013, I visited Istanbul and found some beautiful fabrics and trimmings at the Grand Bazaar. The main front fabric panel and the hanging beaded jewel were both purchased here.
