Welcome to Silver Birch Studio. My shop features a wide selection of handmade jewellery items, mainly in sterling silver with semi-precious stones.
These gorgeous earrings feature oval cabochons of red paua shell, with swirling iridescent patterns in red and pink. They measure 10x8mm and have been set in sterling silver bezel cups. The posts and scrolls are also of sterling, stamped '925'.
The earrings are securely mounted on card and will be packaged in an attractive organza gift bag. They will be despatched by Royal Mail first class delivery. I
Paua is the Maori name for a marine gastropod also known as abalone or 'Sea Opal'. To the Maori, paua are valued both as food and as a resource for traditional arts and crafts. Paua are frequently used to represent the eyes in Maori carvings and are traditionally associated with the stars - the symbolic eyes of ancestors gazing down from the night sky. An 'eye' pattern can be seen in each of these earrings. Some people believe that this will bring protection and good luck to the wearer.
