Full description

Yarn: Handspun sari silk yarn, great for knitting, crochet, tassel work, jewellery making, weaving, hats bags scarves and more. It is a unique, magical art yarn made from silk waste in India.

Color: Beautiful emerald green glistening tones.

Yardage 10 yard pack for small crafting projects like jewellery making and fibre arts.

Wash: Handwash cold with light detergent.

Silk sari yarn is a by product from silk sari manufacturing in India. These beautiful art yarns have been made into skeins by women's co-operatives in India from silk that would otherwise be destroyed. These silk yarns are spun using charka, drop spindle or wheel.

I buy these ethical yarns directly from women's co-operatives in India and I have been doing so for many years and dedicated to supporting fair trade. These skeins of sari silk yarn are magical and inspirational like the women that produce them.

India has a population of over one billion people with huge disparities of wealth. It is both reassuring and inspiring that these co-operatives are educating, employing and empowering women to take control of their finances, enabling to send their children to school, and to take charge of the family income. It is also reassuring to see how well established the Co-operative Movement is and it is our hope to better the lives of people through trade,
