Life has rather caught up with me at the moment and there hasn’t been time to create as much as I’d like. I’m working on some new pieces at the moment and will post them as soon as they are available.
Plants mean a lot to me, I have always admired the way that Scandinavian artists and designers incorporate plant patterns into the fabrics and interiors that they design. Strong shapes and colours that vibrate against each other translate well into glass and it is this that inspired me for this piece.

A painted and kiln fired glass suncatcher. The borders and central piece with the plant outline are painted then textured with sticks and scratching to reveal the coloured glass underneath. The painted glass is then fired in a kiln before being assembled and soldered, finishing off with small metal loops that the work can be hung from.
The glass I use often has interesting tiny bubbles and ripples that create textures and these are part of the nature of the glass. Because the piece is handmade, every one is unique.
Size
Overall size 10cm x 15cm approximately 4mm thick
The central design is 10.5cm x 6cm
Further information
The soldering is lead and therefore the piece is for decoration only and should not be placed where young children may handle or play with it.
Although at the moment the joins are shiny, these will develop a darker patina over time and give the piece a more ancient appearance.
