Life has rather caught up with me at the moment and there hasn’t been time to create as much as I’d like. I’m working on some new pieces at the moment and will post them as soon as they are available.

I was asked to design and make a door panel for a customer a while back that used images of hares and cornflowers. At the time, I explored making very faint patterns in the glass with paint to show the corn of the field where the hare was running. The pattern translated well to smaller pieces and having many cornfields nearby this provided much of my inspiration for the piece.

Full description

A new design of a Hare dashing through a field of corn surrounded with blue cornflowers. The piece has been painted in layers with some textures and highlights being made by scratching before firing in the kiln. The borders and central piece with the picture is then assembled and soldered, finishing off with a small metal loop that the work can be hung from.

The glass I use often has interesting tiny bubbles and ripples that create textures and these are part of the nature of the glass. Because the piece is handmade, every one is unique.

Size

Overall size 10cm x 10cm approximately 4mm thick

The central design is 7cm x 7cm

Further information

The soldering is lead and therefore the piece is for decoration only and should not be placed where young children may handle or play with it.

Although at the moment the joins are shiny, these will develop a darker patina over time and give the piece a more ancient appearance.
