Description

This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.

A brand new new design which I've christened Broken Glass.
It's based on a piece of fractured glass and the red denotes what often happens when you play with broken glass, blood.

I've used only clear glass for this piece but with lots of different textures and plenty of iridescent which has a turquoise and pink shimmer. The glass itself looks to be cracked in places but isn't, that's just the texture of the glass.
The blood is made from 3 glass nuggets and a small piece of white and red streaked glass.
It's framed with twisted wire for strength and neatness.

I am delighted with this new design. It is amazingly effective the window with the sun making it sparkle and the differently textured glass gives it lots of movement. it also looks equally good hanging not in the window with the light behind but on the wall as a picture.

This is 6" x 5" and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.

I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure it is unique.

All photos are of this piece as this is the first I have made of this new design.

Inspiration

When i showed my husband this newly designed piece he thought it was a Spider's Web. It could indeed be a web as the splash of red could be a spider and fractured glass looks very similar to the threads of a web.
However, this is my design and I am therefore sticking to my original inspiration - Broken Glass stained with a few drops of my glass-cutter's blood. I hope you like it.
