Referring to the Third Eye chakra, One Eye Open looks at balance, cycles and perspective. The two closed eyelids represent the journey inward and how travel through the mind’s eye (eg through meditation) can give rise to a different perspective. The images refer to the cycles of life: summer/winter, day/night, heaven/earth (death/birth) whereas the pink pattern in the background is the same throughout, representing an underlying stability. The tentacles convey how we reach out energetically, the colours referring to the seven main chakras. The lower tentacles reach downwards to the earth, whereas the upper ones are reaching upwards to the heavens/universe, expressing balance between grounding on earth and the possible spiritual elements of human experience, whether that be religious belief or simply a knowing that there’s something else besides the everyday.
