I love to create unique and differing items, and following creating handbags with ties, as an office inspiration, I saw a new idea form after my son worked on a country estate, helping a game keeper, and inspiration struck to create a handbag from the items worn and utilised by the country set.

Country Gentry is a handbag made from two brand new gents flat caps, with vintage leather buttons, a leather buckle and thick leather strap made from a brand new, heavy duty leather dog collar.
Maybe the perfect handbag for the country setting, for the equestrian or dog lover!
The two new hats that form the front and back of this handbag are a size 60cm and are 50% wool and 50% acrylic, so hand wash only.
They are fully lined, making the inside of the handbag a perfect receptacle for all the usual handbag contents!
The two hats were securely hand sewn together leaving the firmer peaks of the hats to form the opening of the handbag.
Closure for the handbag was created by hand sewing a leather buckle to the caps, with vintage leather buttons to decorate and further secure the buckle in place.
The handle is made from a heavy duty, brand new thick black leather dog collar, with metal clips, which would make a fabulous place to attach a handbag charm. The leather strap was hand sewn into place on either side to the handbag, creating a perfect shape to drape over the arm.
