Full description

This is a stool made from English Oak with Bone Oak legs. This is designed for sitting on, not just as a footstool however, it also makes a gorgeous low table.

The seat is made from a 130 year old plank that was reclaimed from a 19th Century Devon barn. The plank was originally destined for firewood as too much had rotted away to be of use in any building however, once stripped and cleaned, this piece of wood takes on a beauty that no new wood can match!

The legs are Bone Oak which dropped from the tree naturally and are not only interestingly shaped and full of character but also extremely strong.

Built using round tenon and mortice joints the stool is very sturdy and the legs are held in place with traditional split wedges.

The wood has been treated very sympathetically before being sanded to a high degree and the soft wax finish leaves this with an absolutely stunning polish. Neutral wax has been used to ensure that it brings out the natural patina of the wood without imparting any colour, this also nourishes and protects the wood.

The colour to this wood is completely natural and has not been stained in any way, other than age!

The actual colour is a little darker in than the pictures show, it is a beautiful dark rich golden brown, I'm afraid the pictures just don't do the wood justice.

Measurements; 15" wide (38 cms),

9 " deep (23cms),

12" high (30 cms)

Sizes are approximate.

Due to the reclaimed nature of this wood some sign of previous beetle larvae may be visible but please rest assured it has been very thoroughly checked and treated where necessary to ensure no possible infestation remains. (I'd just like to add that you MAY find holes - you would have to look very closely to find the 1 or 2 holes that have remained!)

Although it would not be possible to replicate this item, I can build 1 or 2 more in a similar style that would match. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
