Full description

This is a medium size mirror in a chunky 'character grade' English Oak frame (this type of Oak is also known as 'Silver Streak Oak'). This wood was cut over 60 years ago and was grown and cut on the same farm where we live and work. The actual colour of the wood is a very rich golden brown - most similar to the main pic but, unfortunately it doesn't come out very well in the pictures. It is an absolutely stunning piece of wood and has been treated very sympathetically to keep the patina of the wood that has developed over the decades.

The frame has been made in the traditional English 'crossover' style - often seen gracing the walls of farm houses & cottages in period dramas!

The frame is 3" wide, 1" thick and about 20" overall. The mirror itself is a standard 12"x12" mirror tile, (available from most hardware or home stores, just in case of any 'incidents' it would be easy to replace!)

The frame is individually made (not mass produced) and a lot of care and attention has been put into the choice and finish of the wood. The wood is finely sanded and polished to give a lovely silky smooth finish and to bring out the full beauty of the grain (although certain defects have been kept to retain the originality), it has many burr inclusions and stands out admirably when hung in place. I'm afraid the picture just doesn't do it justice! The actual colour is closer to the main picture.

Sorry about the postage but, this is a heavy frame!

I can make a similar frame to custom fit any size mirror or picture that is available (although, please bear in mind large mirrors are very expensive!), please contact me for more details or with any questions.
