In July the wildflowers at Southerscales are stunning and the air is filled with the scent of wild thyme. I sketched and took photographs in the field before researching the wildflowers and then stylising Rock-rose, Wild thyme and other species to create a unique design. Southerscales is a very special nature reserve near the hamlet of Chapel le Dale on the flanks of Ingleborough, one of the three peaks in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
