I've always been fascinated by the moon ( I'm a Cancerian; the star sign ruled by the moon!) and as an animal sculptor it's always a pleasure to create any animal!
I really enjoy sculpting detail (which was done with a 'needle-like' sculpting tool), and I also really enjoy the process from creating the original design through to boxing the finished piece!

This Hare and Moon Brooch is made in cold-cast pewter (pewter and resin), has a bronzed metal brooch pin and has been designed and produced by me; sculptor Kirsty Armstrong. I design, sculpt, cast, polish, finish and box them by hand, in my coal shed here in Cumbria in the UK!
I've made my Hare brooch in cold-cast pewter so that hopefully it resembles Moonlight...Pagans believed that a moon gazing hare symbolised fertility, growth, rebirth, abundance, new beginnings and good fortune'.
This brooch was first sculpted in modelling wax, then a mould was made which I use to make the each brooch in cold-cast pewter. I always try to add detail on to the feet of any animal I sculpt, and the paws are my favourite part of this little Hare...
After casting the hare brooch is polished with wire wool and then a cotton mop and polishing compound. Next, liquid black wax is applied as a contrast to the pewter.
Each brooch is approximately 2 1/4" x 2" (58mm x 47mm), and comes attractively packaged in a black presentation box with hand-tied lilac raffia and silver decoration, and my name is inscribed on the hare's bottom!
The brooch is usually dispatched well within 3 days of cleared payment having been received. Currently I only dispatch to addresses within the UK, but please enquire if you wish an order to be sent further afield.
I use second class 'signed for' delivery, but please contact me if you require a faster method. A signature is required upon receipt.
