Anodised aluminium is so light these butterflies will almost flutterby as you're wearing them!
Whilst I adore silver I love colour too and anodised aluminium offers to opportunity to apply colour directly to metal. The process of anodising involves applying an electric current to the metal whilst it is suspended in a bath of sulphuric acid. This gives the metal a porous surface capable of accepting dye. Once decorated those surface pores are sealed, trapping the colour. The result is a metallic coloured finish with dye permanently sealed into the surface of the aluminium, a surprisingly durable finish.
These earrings are one off pieces, the dye process means you'll never get quite the same effect twice. If you would like a particular colour combination or design please let me know, I will be happy to help.

Full description
To create the butterfly design the aluminium is first dyed magenta before a resist is applied. Once overdyed with blue the design appears. The colour is then sealed into the anodised aluminium. Then they are cut and shaped by hand using traditional metalsmithing techniques.
The earring wires are sterling silver.
