I made these origami stars from chiyogami paper that was printed with a pattern of temari, fans and chrysanthemum.
Temari are balls decorated with embroidery, originally made by ladies in Japan for their children. The ladies of the Royal court would have competitions to see who could make the most elaborate temari. Often a mother would make a special temari for a daughter who was leaving to be married, to remind her of home.
These earrings are very lightweight and have been coated with a double layer of acrylic spray. They are splashproof, but not waterproof and should not be immersed in water.
Length of earring: 3.5cm from bottom of silver plated ear wire.
All origami earrings are supplied with a handmade origami gift box.
