It has been a long road to bringing these products to market as I originally started making garden sculptures when I left my job a s toy designer for LEGO. I was pitching them to garden centres, designers, individuals etc but whilst the response was great the uptake meant that I just couldn't sustain a business on them.
Off the back of this though I learnt a great deal about concrete and wanted to use this along with my design skills. I looked at the market for garden products and thought it could do with a little spice so set about looking into designs that could give a little more excitement to an everyday garden product.
The starting range is the origami inspired Kronen flower bowl and pot and the coffee tables that match the set. I hope to further expand the range if these lines show promise so I hope you like them.

Utilising the versatile shape that I created for the designer planter Kronen, I am offering a different and interesting new coffee table design that will make an interesting feature in your garden or home. The sturdy stance gives the table and prominent presence which will hopefully be a talking point amongst guests, or a point of aesthetic pleasure for the family.
With it’s rusted effect, the Kronen coffee table really does look like a piece of wrought iron that would be difficult to construct. The glowing, iron oxide tones suit an outdoor environment well, bringing natural colours to a very geometric and striking shape. The effect is created by a reaction that occurs on the surface which dyes the concrete the colour of rust. I would strongly recommend having the base sealed as the rusting process is on going and thus will leech on to the surface it is placed. Sealing also has the added bonus of enriching the colour so it looks deeper and richer.
The coffee table is hand made, by me, in small numbers in my studio in Hertfordshire. It is constructed from a fibreglass reinforced, concrete mix and has a thickness of roughly 15mm.
