This is a larger version of my glass and stitch landscapes inspired by my local beach and shoreline. I fuse the strips of clear float glass together in my kiln, printing the scene with black glass enamel. Once it is fired I add further detail with stitch.
I try to use recycled glass wherever possible; the glass used for these pieces is old picture frame glass reclaimed from a house clearance. It is 'float' glass, so although the glass is clear it will show a faint greenish colour, especially along the edges, which is perfect for the shoreline scene.
The glass is mounted on a white board and framed in a black box frame which highlights the printed glass nicely. The frame measures approximately 15" x 12" (38cm x 30cm) and is ready to hang.
