Full description

This design is carved into a very old Cornish roof slate (came from an area where local houses are over 300 years old).

This is an intriguing design and can be seen in Meigle Sculptured Stone Museum (this is 'Meigle 5'). The seahorse is sometimes also described as an 'elephant'. Whatever this creature is, it's certainly unusual. A recent suggestion was a porpoise (which makes more sense as these are found in the waters around Scotland).

This one-off piece measures approx 36x15 cm and weighs 1.2 Kg.
