Full description

I created this gnarled tree sculpture from a single sheet of copper, cut out using a piercing saw, then shaped using a hammer and pliers. Both tools made markings on the surface of the copper, adding to the rugged look of this sculpture.

This tree is 12" (30cm) tall, and measures approximately 4" (9.5cm). It would look good in a variety of homes - whether to compliment the wood of an old mantelpiece or as a focal point in a more contemporary space.

The warm, dark colouration on the metal is a pleasing effect of the annealing process that makes copper malleable. The way that it changes under a flame is beautiful. For this reason, copper is one of my favourite materials to work with.

Thank you for taking the time to view this sculpture. Look out for more metalwork coming very soon. If you like the style of my work, but do not see exactly what you'd like, I am very happy to accept commissions. For more of my work, please visit http://sneddoniadesigns.deviantart.com
