Item details

The necklace features a piece of sheet silver which has been cut into a trapezoid shape.

There is a channel running down the centre of the silver which houses seven granulations. Six of the granulations are silver, one is 22ct gold. The silver pendant and chain have both been oxidised. The pendant has then been brushed back over the granulations to give an aged effect.

This item is supplied in a gift box.

All findings are made from sterling silver.

Brooch measures 3.5cm long, 1cm wide at widest point. The chain is an 18 inch long trace chain

I was lucky enough to be one of a group of artists that were asked to make a range of jewellery based on a fantastic example of ancient gold smithing, called the Mold Cape. The cape and our ranges of various jewellery were to be exhibited along side one another in my local museum.

The range of skills that ancient civilisations had always amazes and inspires me. I have a particular fascination with Granulation which is basically, the name of the technique which means to take metal and make it into small sphere's.

These are the realisations of some designs I made whilst being allowed to indulge my two favourite subjects, history and ancient gold smithing.
