Oxidised silver and enamel earrings.
I have carefully sifted layers of fine, lead free, vitreous enamels onto copper leaf shapes and then fired them in a kiln between each layer to build up the rich colours in these earrings. They are a lovely earthy mix of ochre, rust, green with warm coppery hues showing around the edges and blue tips.
The handmade ear wires are sterling silver that has been oxidised to give a complimentary smokey grey tone. The earrings have been enamelled on the reverse (counter enamelled) with several layers of black enamel.
Size: From top of ear wire to point of leaf approx. 4.5cm. Approx. 1.7cm at the widest point.
Vitreous enamelling is done using fine glass powder fired at a high temperature in a kiln to create a smooth glass finish. It's a delicate process achieving different results each time, making these earrings truly unique.
