I started creating these frames when I came across the pattern for an origami butterfly online. They were so simple yet so beautiful and I soon had so many of them that I decided I should do something with them. I had already been creating 3d art for our home, using polymer and air drying clay to take imprints of leaves from our garden and attaching them to canvas which I had painted with acrylics and added tissue and fabric to add texture. The butterflies seemed to lend themselves well to this and I loved the combination of different elements, textures and materials. The more I made the more I began to look out for new elements and materials I could incorporate and I came across silk paper making. Those designs presented on silk paper worked better housed in a deep box frame.
