'River Steeping with Swan'
Batik on Cotton
The same basic process of using hot wax to resist the coloured dyes, that has been used in the Far East, Middle East, Central Asia and India for over 2000 years, is the same process that I use to make my pictures. I adapt the application of the wax with techniques of my own, but the use of wax, fabric dyes and nothing else remains the same.

Batik is the technique of layering hot wax and fabric dyes onto fabric to build up the colours. The wax acting as a resist to the dye. The wax is removed at completion of the picture.

I love the river, to visit it each day and see the changes is wonderful and very inspiring for me.
