I often come across these antique woodworking tools.
They have a nice tactile feel and it seems such a pity to see them discarded.
By making a few enhancements I give them a new life.

Full description

I came across this block plane in a box of tools at a local sale.

It was missing its blade and wedge. Nevertheless, I believed it would make a useful desk tidy.

I suspect it's over 100 years old. There is no makers mark the front is stamped I.M or W.I depending which way up you look at it.

I've attached a vintage wood set square with brass inlays.

Between the square and the wooden handle is an ideal space for letters & documents.

On the blade of the square is a powerful Neodymium magnet which can be used to attach notes to its blade.

Besides the useful throat storage area where one could easily store a calculator/book of stamps/mouse etc. I have added two 24 mm holes at the front and rear of the stock, an ideal place to store memory sticks.

Also at the front of the stock are four 10 mm holes , ideal for pencils/pens etc.

On the rear is another powerful Neodymium magnet which will easily hold paperclips and the like.

The plane and square have been gently cleaned and given a very fine shellac coating. The bottom is lined with cork to protect and delicate surfaces (and stop things falling through the throat!)

Measuring 9 high, 15 long, 4 deep this isn't exactly small but would look quite imposing on a large desk.

As it's quite heavy at 1500 gm I'm afraid the price of sending it overseas is probably prohibitive. Within the UK I will use a courier.
