A Pattern to create the pictured bag which was designed and made by myself.
This quirky hexagon appliqué bag could be used for so many things! Just the right size for keeping your patchwork goodies safe, perhaps for the beach or just a bit of retail therapy. If you use a Moda candy charm pack for the hexagon appliqué you do not need to cut them to a hexagon shape, just fold them and use!
Finished size 16in wide by 16in tall, with a ‘sugar bag’ style bottom.
Requirements:
60cm Linen or Linen Mix fabric for bag and handles
50cm lining fabric
1 fat quarter for internal pocket (optional)
1 Moda candy charm pack (2.5in squares)
or
A selection of scraps from which to cut hexagons.
1 piece of flat wadding 18in x 34in
2 strips of wadding 1in x 30in (or longer if you want longer handles)
Perlé no.8 embroidery threads for quilting
Neutral sewing thread
7 small buttons for embellishment (optional)
You will also need:
1 pack of 1in hexagon papers.
Available from Sunflower Fabrics (in packs of 48 papers)
or other patchwork suppliers.
A template is provided if you prefer to cut your own papers.
