I love how freehand machine embroidery allows me to work much more freely, lending itself to creating pieces that capture the fun and liveliness of a design. I also like creating pieces that are intricate and full of detail.

Full description
'Flower Heart' freehand machine embroidery
This piece was sewn on white cotton and is built up with layers of freehand machine embroidery and acrylic paint. I wanted this piece to feel like bunches and bunches of country garden flowers, collected together into a heart-shaped arrangement.
All of my freehand machine embroideries are hand-drawn, designed, sewn and painted by me and my trusty old sewing machine, with many cups of tea and the radio on in the background.
Mounted on top of a canvas box frame, to help give the piece stability and then signed by me, using hand embroidery. The piece is then backed neatly with fabric washi tape. All pieces are packaged safely and securely to make sure they arrive in perfect condition.
