This abstract piece looks amazing with the sun shining through it and is perfect for hanging in a sunny window or in the garden as a hanging sculpture.
Three inch thick cross section of Douglas fir with the central core removed and a cast glass insert placed in the hole.
Blue, turquoise, green, orange, red and yellow recycled glass is has been crushed into fine powder and cast in my kiln into the shape of the wood removed from the middle of the trunk. The colours and patterned are inspired by the beautiful mountain ash trees in Yarner Wood in Devon. This sculpture was part of a trail there this summer and is a one off piece of art work.
It has sturdy hooks to hang it from and is not nearly as heavy as it looks.
approx 60 cm across
