Full description
This unusual Spalted Beech bowl has been made from the wood of a 200 year old tree that came down in strong winds and luckily fell away from my friend’s house! It was turned when still green and allowed to dry naturally which has contributed to its unique shape and character. Although the bark came off during the turning process the rim follows the natural edge of the tree rim.
I call it a ‘Rocking Bowl’ as it has a completely rounded profile and gently rocks and turns on it’s base when disturbed.
To finish, the bowl has been sanded smooth then given with multiple treatments of food safe mineral oil.
