this beautiful piece is the result of HIGH FIRING in the kiln. White, heliotrope, and pale cream enamels were applied to the copper, over a transparent "flux" coat which allows some of the copper to glow through.. When high fired, the coloured enamels fused together, and create the most gorgeous surface - it is totally smooth and glossy, yet you can see a snow-like texture in the closeup pics. The lines carved into the enamel have collected some of the white, and some of the purple below - it is really seductive and interesting to view from every angle. The outside of the bowl has a simple coating of navy enamel, as it is a wide open bowl, and the outside does not really show. This would look totally gorgeous with a tea light inside, but can also be used for all sorts of other purposes. It would look just fab on a white shelf, or a coffee table, and would be a real talking point as friends spot it, and want to know where you found it!

Full description
This lovely bowl is ENAMEL ON COPPER, fired in my studio. No two pieces are ever the same. The bowls look painted, but the random effects are a testament to the fact that they are hand-made, and have a life of their own in the kiln - they are quite unlike the mechanical uniformity of mass-produced items. You can display these lovely bowls, keep trinkets in them, use them for sweets, even put a candle or tealight, which will reflect in the glossy surface....the choice is yours. (It is not good to put olives or gherkins or anything with a vinegar in it, since enamel is glass, and vinegar may etch the surface). The colours are rich and beautiful and will NEVER fade. Many layers are used to create the very special effects.
As a special offer for the opening of the shop, each bowl will be sent wrapped in black tissue, in a super black matt gift box, with some black satin ribbon...it will make a fabulous gift.
