although most of my enamel on copper items are quite abstract, with the enamels allowed to flow as they melt and create random patterns , I decided to try something different with this dish - something a little more controlled, and more akin to my life as a painter (you can view my paintings, if you like, on my website, http://www.jackiesimmonds.com). I am, in fact, an award-winning painter, a full signature member of the Pastel Society of America, so my work in three dimensions is just another aspect of my creative life. This little dish is a fusion of my painting skill and knowledge, and my life as a craftsperson - so it is rather special. It is quite unique...you will never find another exactly like it. It is also CONSIDERABLY less expensive than my paintings! It shouldn't be, given the time it took to create.....but that's life! I cannot ask as much for a dish, as I can for a painting! Daft, but there it is. I will supply it with its little stand.

Full description
This unusual "plate" or dish is enamel on copper, a landscape scene. Although it can be used in a practical way, it can also be displayed on a stand - like a little painting! Which of course, it is, really, except that I have "painted" it with enamel onto a copper base.
The process is complex and fascinating. Many layers of enamel powders, both opaque and transparent, are fused to the copper in a blazing hot kiln. It is a lengthy and quite difficult procedure, but the end results are worth it. The dish is hard-wearing, glossy, washable, and looks very different to a painting in a frame, yet the image is completely recognisable, an impressionist landscape scene.
The dish/plate is 15.5cm wide. The back is a simple grey enamel.
