The Thornborough Henges are three impressive circular enclosures lying close to the River Ure near the village of West Tanfield in North Yorkshire. These henges, formed by massive ditches and banks with opposing entrances were built in the Neolithic period. The middle henge was built over an older monument - a cursus - a long avenue or enclosure of uncertain purpose. These sites became the foci for other monuments including burial mounds in the Bronze Age. The design in the top-right corner of the print evokes the incised decoration on Neolithic pottery found nearby at Nosterfield.

Original lino print "Thornborough Henges", inspired by Neolithic monuments near Ripon in North Yorkshire.
Free P&P for UK buyers
This is an original lino print printed from two blocks, one for the green, the other for the blue. A limited edition of 20. The printed area measures approximately 25x25cm and it is supplied in a mount to fit a 30x30cm frame. If you require a mount to fit a larger frame do contact me for costs.
These items are hand-printed and so vary slightly depending on ink density, character of the paper, pressure of the press and the way the wind blows (ok, maybe not the last bit).
