The rich purple silk fabric gives a flimsy effect to this flower brooch, very light weight. Heat responsive paper has been shrunk into the middle with fabric paint and stitched to add more interest. Purple fibres have been added to whole brooch. Size 12cm x 10cm.

I had got the lovely purple silk material from China, loved the colour and texture and thought a brooch would be a great idea. To give it some backbone I used the heat responsive paper and added purple fibres as well as fabric paint.

The rich purple silk fabric gives a flimsy effect to this flower brooch, very light weight. Heat responsive paper has been shrunk into the middle with fabric paint and stitched to add more interest. Purple fibres have been added to whole brooch. Size 12cm x 10cm.

Looks good on lapel of jacket or an item of clothing as it is delicate.

My brooches although small go through several processes before completion. The heat responsive paper has to go through a heat process. If I have painted, the paint needs to dry. I often have several brooches on the go, at different stages at any given time.
